We look at AVO and inversion from a data processing and an interpretation perspective. Dan Huston processed AVO data for several years at UNOCAL as a processing geophysicist and later as the team leader for UNOCAL’s Advanced Seismic Methods group at the Brea California based Fred Hartley Research Center. He won UNOCAL’s first annual Creativity Award in 1989 for his work in AVO analysis leading to the discovery of the Merrill Avenue Gas Field in California’s San Joaquin Valley. He has written papers on AVO and Seismic Inversion for Geophysics and other publications and he has put his ideas into practice over many years of successful oil and gas prospecting
We use Hampson Russell’s excellent 3-D Inversion and AVO Analysis packages.
At our office we have Kingdom software, Hampson Russell’s AVO suite, and gravity software running on Windows 2000 machines as well as on Unix work stations.
